I do not agree with the sinking fund mainly because you cannot, at present circumstances, legally compel everyone to contribute. If some do and some don't, how is it fair to those who do? If you cannot solve this predicament, don't even raise the subject again.

There are some committee members who believe a sinking fund will help upgrade quality of life in Tropicana and add value to the property. So they think? But I beg to differ. I happen to be amongst those who find the sinking fund irrelevant and redundant for several reasons.I would rather Tropicana residents become more civic-minded and show concern of the security and safety of the neighbourhood in other ways.
Firstly, we residents are already paying maintenance and other charges such as security and this fee has considerably increased recenty much to my and everybody's chagrin and dissatisfaction.
There are other ways we can make Tropicana a better place. Some of these I have highlighted in my blog. Some residents have barricaded the road shoulder outside their house and hence cars are parked on the road. When one neighbour did it, the others followed suit and this has become detrimental. Vehicles parked on both sides of the road stick out like a sore thumb creating road risks. Imagine when cars are parked on both sides of the tarred road as the grass area is barricaded by cement. Then when there is heavy movement of traffic , these barricaded cemented areas cause a menace to passing traffic.
It is common knowledge that Tropicana is not primarily a gated community nor an entirely residential area. There is the driving range; the bowling alley open to public like the other businesses here ; so is the golf industry in Tropicana; so why do residents have to pay the sinking fund when it is obvious it is not primarily a residential area.
To me, it is not the beautification of the place that matters. I am happy living here as it is, as each one of us looks after the landscape in our area. I would rather some residents change their attitude and civic-mindedness.
Furthermore, we senior citizens are here to enjoy resort living in a friendly environment. Petty things about physical beautification are not as important as the people who make up this place.
